Happy 19th Birthday to my beautiful sister Kelly Bell.

Kel is the sweetest, kind hearted girl I know and my heart aches without her giggles, dimples and smile in my everyday. I would never have imagined that receiving a sister at the age of 15 could have been such a miracle in my life. I don’t know what it’s like to have a sister close to my age but I couldn’t imagine it any other way.

Until I moved to Vancouver, Kelly has always been my photography model and muse. I miss spending weekends with her and our cameras. I’ve really noticed how portraits have almost disappeared from my personal photography because of the oceans between us!

Kel, have a fantastic day with your friends. I love and miss you dearly. There’ll be a bed waiting for you in Vancouver come September!

Love your big sis xxx

Thank you so much for all the beautiful birthday wishes yesterday. I feel truly blessed to receive all the kind love that I did. You touched my heart in ways you’ll never know.

The Canadian took me out for a beautiful day after making me breakfast and spoiling me with presents. We were super lucky to have the warmest day we’ve had here yet and did lots of walking all over the city. From Kits to Denman, into Yaletown and down Robson, ending the night at a restaurant overlooking English Bay, it was a perfect day spent with my love.

I of course took my Polaroid with me and wanted a special picture of us on my first ever summer birthday in Canada. He did an awesome job, don’t you think? I love you, sweetie! Seeing as the Pola chopped his head off, we retook it with the digital but this is a Polaroid birthday spread so you’re getting this one instead.

My boy was very clever and got me some lovely pressies but I was most impressed with one in particular. About a month ago we were in his favourite record store, Zulu, talking about vinyl and he mentioned that I had no U2 vinyl here. I told him that I only ever really wanted the 12 inch version of New Years Day. It’s over 20 years old and after all my years of collecting U2 memorabilia, I’d never found it. Clever boy that he is, remembered what I said and got it for me for my birthday. :)

Thanks again lovelies!

For my first summer in the Northern Hemisphere I plan to:

Have my first summer birthday dinner on the patio in the sun (please be kind, sunshine). 34…Egads!

Take as many sun flared, warm kissed pictures as I can whether it be with the Polaroids, the Holga, Fisheye or Yashica.

Dare to dip my feet in the bone chilling Canadian ocean.

Watch as many sunsets over the water as possible. First one happened last weekend at Spanish Banks. Gorgeous!

Pack light for our Rockies Road trip. 1 week to go!

Spend many evenings outdoors with a cool drink.

Get ready to move into our own place- we are waiting to hear back, fingers and toes crossed! Spending far too much time pinning housey things to this.

Get my chapters written for the book.

What are your plans Northern Hemispherians?

Down Under lovelies, I do believe your mid winter temperatures are the same as Vancouver’s right now. What’s up with that? What are you planning on doing to stay warm? I bet I’m missing some gorgeous winter Sydney fashion!

I will admit, I love birthdays. I love celebrating other people’s birthdays and enjoy celebrating with loved ones on my own.

It was a rather eventful day. Birthday wishes and love from family, friends and work colleagues, bunches of flowers, cakes, a lovely dinner at my favourite Italian restaurant, a beautiful Oroton bag from my Mum and an iPod Touch from Sean (!) plus…

A new interactive whiteboard was installed in my classroom.

Something exciting developed and is itching closer to do with the Polaroid book- more on that soon.

I WAS PRETTY MUCH APPROVED AS A CANADIAN RESIDENT!!!!!

All on my birthday! It looks as though I just have one last step in the Permanent Resident Visa and then it seems that it will be officially approved. Excited! Shocked! We were not expecting it this quick. I’m tired…what a day.
