I get asked lots of the same sorts of questions via email and flickrmail, so I thought I’d answer them here.

Can I use your photos on my blog or website?

I would prefer that you ask my permission first, so drop me an email or send me a message via the contact form. I will usually say yes, as long as you credit me as the photographer. :)

Can I buy prints of your photographs anywhere?

Yes you can. I have a little shop on etsy. Come visit my print store to find my prints.

I want to buy a film camera. What sort should I get?

I also get asked this question a lot, so I wrote an article on it.

Where do you buy your Polaroid film?

I buy Polaroid and Fuji film from ebay. I get my Impossible Project film from Impossible Project and from Beau Photo in Vancouver.

Can you give me some tips on shooting Polaroid cameras?

Because I get asked this question A LOT, my Pola sisters and I wrote a book about it. Instant Love: How To Make Magic and Memories with Polaroids (Chronicle Books) will be released in Spring 2012!

What kind of cameras do you use?

I shoot with quite a few different cameras. I use a Polaroid SX70 and a Polaroid SLR680 for most of my Polaroid work but I also use a Polaroid Spectra and a Polaroid Land Camera 340. For my 35mm film photography I use a Nikon FM3a and Yashica FX3. Medium format is shot with a YashicaMat 124.

I shoot with a Canon 40D and Canon 5D mark 11 for digital. I also sometimes shoot with a Holga, Digital Harinezumi and Lomo Fisheye for a bit of fun.

My films of choice are Polaroid 600, Portra 400 and Portra 160. I’m currently loving The Impossible Project’s PX600 UV+ and PX680.

What is RSS and why do you want me to subscribe to it?

RSS feeds are a great way to follow all your favourite blogs. I personally use Google Reader to follow all my blogs. By setting yourself up an account with something like Google Reader, you are then able to see every new blog post by all your favourite blogs right there on one handy page. So if you ‘subscribe’ to my RSS feed, every time I make a new post on Mocking Bird, the post will show up in the reader along with all the other new blog posts from that day. It’s a great and convenient way to read blogs!

I put a lot of effort into the look of my site and really want people to come and visit the page itself but if you prefer to read my everyday posts through a reader, then please do so. There are lots of readers out there, my personal choice is Google Reader but take a look around and you may find one more to your liking. OK, now subscribe away!

I love receiving emails and comments from readers, so please do not hesitate to send me a message. I may not get to it straight away but I will get back to you as soon as I can.
