FAQ
I get asked lots of the same sorts of questions via email and flickrmail, so I thought I’d answer them here. To help make your stay at Mocking Bird more comfortable, pull up a chair and flip through the guide.
What is RSS and why does Amanda want me to subscribe to it?
RSS feeds are a great way to follow all your favourite blogs. I am sure you have seen ‘RSS’ on many blogs you visit and you wonder what all the fuss is about. I personally use Google Reader to follow all my blogs. By setting yourself up an account with something like Google Reader, you are then able to see every new blog post by all your favourite blogs right there on one handy page. So if you ‘subscribe’ to my RSS feed, everytime I make a new post on Mocking Bird, the post will show up in the reader along with all the other new blog posts from that day. It’s a great and convenient way to read blogs!
I put a lot of effort into the look of my site and really want people to come and visit the page itself but if you prefer to read my everyday posts through a reader, then please do so. There are lots of readers out there, my personal choice is Google Reader but take a look around and you may find one more to your liking. OK, now subscribe away!
How do I make my photos look all dreamy and soft?
I get asked this one a lot, so I wrote up an article on just that. It’s a 2 parter.
I want to buy a film camera. What sort should I get?
I also get asked this question a lot, so I wrote an article on that too.
Can I buy prints of your photographs anywhere?
Yes you can. I have a store called Paper Cameras on etsy. Come visit my store to find my prints.
What kind of cameras do you use?
I shoot with quite a few different cameras. For my 35mm film photography I use a Nikon FM3a and Yashica FX3. I also use a Polaroid SX70 and a Polaroid SLR680 for Polaroid work.
I shoot with a Canon 40D for digital. I also sometimes shoot with a Yashica Mat, Holga, Digital Harinezumi and Lomo Fisheye for a bit of fun.
My films of choice are Portra160NC and Portra400NC.
Can I use your photos on my blog or website?
I would prefer that you ask my permission first, so drop me an email or send me a message via the contact form. I will usually say yes, as long as you credit me as the photographer.
I love receiving emails and comments from readers, so please do not hesitate to send me a message!
