About

midsummercanada

Hello friends! My name is Amanda and I take pictures. I am from Sydney, Australia but recently moved to Vancouver, Canada with my partner whom I often refer to here as ‘The Canadian’.

I think about photography for a good percentage of my day but when I’m not doing that, I am teaching Year 1 students.

I am currently writing and photographing a Polaroid photography book for Chronicle Books with Jenifer Altman and Susannah Conway.

My work is featured in Polaroid Notes from Chronicle Books, in the book, For the Love of Light – A Tribute to the Art of Polaroid, Frankie magazine’s The Photo Album and the current Summer issue of Artful Blogging.

Here at Mocking Bird I write about photography, inspirations, creativity and how to capture that within your everyday. My partner and I moved to Canada this year so I am using Mocking Bird as a memoir of my life in Sydney and my new life in Vancouver.

Check out my articles on what to look for when Buying a Film Camera , Choosing a Polaroid Camera and How to Make Dreamy, Film like Photos. There are more feature articles of this nature in the Articles Section. Subscribe to the RSS feed so you won’t miss them.
