Letters To Lovers: France

by on June 27, 2010

We have not yet met, but I know that once we do, our hearts will be joined forever. I’ve heard you’re very beautiful and full of that magic light that I chase. I dream of  sitting in your cafes watching the world go by and walking your hilly, Montmartre streets with camera in hand. I think we could be good friends. Shall I come over some time?

Love Amanda xx

p.s. I hope I can take some Polaroids in a one of your cafes. This one is one of your Australian cousins sharing your Frenchiness with the people of Sydney.

    Dear Amanda,
France and I have indeed met and let me tell you, you have no idea how hard you are going to fall when you do finally meet. France will work it’s way into your soul and you will never be the same. Go! Go now!

  4. Amanda says:

SoS, haha well yes I think you need to go back as a stylish and cultured young woman now and see it for what it really is.

Char, let’s skip out on reality and hop the next plane.

  5. Amanda says:

    Dear Completely Smitten,

You are quite the cupid! I don’t have a love affair with France. I have a tormented, unrequited infatuation. Until I am there in her arms, she will be this fantasy place to me. I imagine it will be like when I first visited Venice and could not believe the place actually existed.

    Signed,

    Longing for Frenchy Love.

I’m going in 2 weeks! Eeee!!! I went a few times when I was a nanny in England years ago but we mostly did things like Disneyland Paris (haha)

I’m very much looking forward to a grown up trip. Just me and my little Polaroid camera(s). I’m so excited! Sigh… I even made a paper chain. :)

  7. Carmela says:

    Dear Amanda,

that is one gorgeous photo! I think it’s one of my favourites from you so far.
I’ve been to France twice, both times to a lovely little place called Annecy, in Haute -Savoie. I’m waiting for Paris now :)
It’s a love for life…beware, if you go, take everything you’ve got, because you will not want to leave.

  11. Clara says:

I just returned from a month in France, including a week in Paris. It was a trip I’d anticipated for a long while and it met every expectation. I savored every cafe experience, and enjoyed them regularly. They were a wonderful respite for anything that ailed me, whether tired feet or a tired mind, an empty stomach, or a simple need to be a spectator to the rest of the world.

I can’t wait to go back.

Well come and visit me! I may not be able to offer you Montmartre, but I can offer you a genuine and very real France, my beautiful city of Carcassonne, olives and tomatoes and the best wine! I fell in love 5 years ago, and plan on staying :)
