And Back Again

Across the seas and land I go…

Next week I will be blogging from the homeland as I am off on an adventure to Australia for a few weeks. I am off to get some happy soul family time with the mumma and siblings and to reconnect with my long lost summer wardrobe.

As much as I will miss my Canadian, with us being our all too familiar 12522 miles apart, I am really looking forward to spending some quality time with my family and friends again. 7 months is a really long time to go without giving your Mum a hug.

I’m super excited to go home and see all the people in my life again but it’s a strange feeling to be leaving my love behind. He had to do this a few times when we were living in Sydney and I was on the other end, watching him leave while I stayed behind and was left alone. So to now be the one doing the leaving feels almost bittersweet.

I’m planning on lots of photography and photo shoots when I’m home in Sydney and will hopefully get to the beach and to wander around the markets that I miss. I’d like to do a few “Wandering Neighbourhoods” from Sydney as that was something I never really did at home.

I’ve also got some happy photography news coming which I was hoping to share with you this week but it hasn’t arrived yet, so that may have to wait!

See you on the other side, unless of course my news arrives. Wink, wink.

  1. Thanks Jasmin. Aw, that makes me sad.
I’ll have to do lots of shooting while I’m at home. I’m on a mission to find some Polaroid film while I’m there even though I know it’s not likely.

  2. enjoy your time back home with your family! i know the feeling all too well – i haven’t seen my folks in 6 months – but they’re arriving tonight for 3 weeks of Indonesian adventures :) can’t wait!!

also looking forward to hearing your photography news…but patience is a virtue ;)

  3. Thanks Nicole. Have fun with your parents!
    Thanks Veronica.

Laura, yes Ted’s was my usual supplier 7 months ago so I’m hoping they still have some. Fingers crossed. Thanks for letting me know.

Charlane, thanks so much. I guess when people go overseas and are still able to blog, it doesn’t make much difference to the readers but it will definitely feel different for me.

  4. I hope you have a very wonderful trip home! I don’t live nearly as far away from my family, but I know how good it is to go home and see them. I can’t wait to see your photos and read about some neighbourhoods in Sydney!

  5. Oh yay Amanda. This is very exciting. I heard your news on Twitter.. and am so excited for you.

I think there is a bit of film lying around… you just have to find it. I know a place that has it in Bondi Junction… but to be honest, I don’t really know what film you use.

Have the best time with your family. xx

  6. have a great time back in oz! i also know what it’s like to be away from home. we are up to nine months away now (we’re from melbourne, and in the states til the end of the year). so ENJOY :)

  7. It’s always such a strange feeling when I return home after being away for a long time (although I’ve never come home for a few weeks and then gone away again, so I’m sure that’s another feeling all together!) — wonderful, but strange.

I hope you’re enjoying your time back in Sydney, enjoying the Aussie weather (and light!) and taking as many photos as you can – I know I look forward to seeing some!
