Spring, I Love You

So it doesn’t feel like Spring to my Australian bones yet, but it sure is starting to look like it, baby.

My love of cherry blossoms is for 2 reasons:

1. They only share themselves with the world for a teeny amount of time and that makes them so special.

2. They look beautiful from afar but they look just as beautiful up close.

I don’t often love my photographs but I really like this one and I do because the background looks like a painting. Look at those lines and stripes. Do you see them? I didn’t try to make that happen. It just did. Polaroid is magical like that.

Have a Spring-like weekend, unless of course your Autumn has begun and you are rummaging through the cupboards for your cardis and socks!

  1. Gorgeous! Just gorgeous! I too love the way the background is out of focus in an almost kaleidoscopic way.

Cherry Blossoms have a special place in my heart too. I love them for their fragile strength and brief existence.

Have a lovely spring weekend! It’s supposed to be sunny on Saturday. :)

  2. Fanny, yes hurrah for sunshine!

Bea, you’re making me blush. Thank you. :)

Ashley, it is kinda kaleidoscopic. Good description!

  3. I really love this too. Great background!

I only have one pack of polaroid film left though. I meant to stock up from polapremium, but then they’re empty. Anyone know where I can get my hands on some?

  4. These are such pretty pictures! I love cherry blossoms and I am hoping that when I go to Japan next month that they will still be blooming there.

  5. Absolutely beautiful. I’m shocked that you don’t love all of your pictures, because I adore every photo that you post. Of course, we are always our own harshest critics, I suppose! Thank you for sharing your work – it’s gorgeous.

  6. Mausumi, I only have one other pack left too. Polapremium were sold out the moment they seemed to go on sale. It’s a good sign though, at least it means the film is in high demand and the imposs. proj. will be needed.

Amanda, I am so jealous! Japan in sakura time is number 2 on my travel list. Have a great time.

Alli, thanks so much. That means a lot.

    Thanks all. :)

  7. Ah, the magic of Polaroid, one would be crazy not to love it:)

There is a Japanese hotel nearby and I walk by it every day on my way to uni. They have Japanese morello trees on the front that bloom just heavenly! I am counting the days until I get to shoot them, isn’t it crazy? :)

I don’t think it’s happening any soon though – we just got snow yesterday! :(

  8. amanda can i ask you where you get your film developed? i’ve just shot my first two rolls of film ever & am super excited to get them developed. any good tips on what to look for when looking for a lab? i’ve read that fuji frontier scanners are basically the gold standard – so that’s one thing i’ll be looking for…thanks for any tips/advice!
