Dark and Light

Dark and Light…which do you prefer?

I love how two images of similar items can be so strikingly different. I think what is consistent is finding that light to make the image better. If I had shot the first shot in strong sunlight, it wouldn’t have had the same effect. Both were shot on overcast days, but by using 400 ISO film, I was still able to capture ok shots with the available light. I was pretty happy with the results.

so hard to pick one. but given the early bloom of my garden this year (we have blue hyacinth)…i’m biased toward the Light.

I really like the first shot. There is an ambiance only found on those over cast days that I find soothing. The muted colors have a calming affect. They’re both great images though.

I am really enjoying some of the shots I am getting in the darker days. I’m surprised that I’m finding some enjoyment in the moody, misty fog.

And hooray for Spring and gardens blooming! Cherry blossoms are popping up all over Vancouver right now. I’m hanging out for them to be in full bloom.

hard to choose, i would normally have said light but after seeing your first photo im inspired to start experimenting with dark.

Maybe it’s because I’m gravitating towards spring these days that I’m pulling into the bottom (flowers!) shot… but both have my eye! Gorgeous.

normally i would say dark (i can be quite moody and tend to gravitate toward gloomy things) but i think a photo with perfect natural light can be so spectacular.
