Christmas Tree Varieties: Spoiled For Choice!

Here I sit, warm shortbread has just come out of the oven, the fire log channel is singing to me and keeping me warm while I dream about going to my first Christmas tree lot.

At home, we have real Christmas trees but they are usually just stacked in someone’s yard and are pretty much the one variety. Your choices come down to whether you want a short one or a tall one.

I don’t know how I will possibly choose between all the firs, pines, spruces and cedars! I got to visit a nursery the other day and discovered a winter wonderland that I never knew existed. The little Aussie was quite giddy with excitement. I didn’t have my camera with me, so I will be going back again.

Aussies, they have real wreaths here and real holly! It’s quite magical.

So what does one choose for the first time? The fir trees had that beautiful Christmas tree scent. I like my Christmas trees fat and full!

What kind of Christmas tree do you like? Do you do a real tree or go for artificial?

    That sounds like such fun!

Our house {apartment} is so small we have a tree that we just pull out of the box, and it’s assembled. I dream about big Christmas trees like I used to have as a kid.

We had a real tree once and the smell was amazing. I’d love a real wreath. How cool is that!

Enjoy it all, and of course we await photos. xx

Yes, our apartment in Sydney wasn’t huge but I was determined to get a real tree in there. It was a pain in the butt lol

Chantelle, the wreaths are so gorgeous and they had swags with real berries that you just hang on a door. So pretty!

  3. We are getting a real tree this year and can not wait for that Christmas smell to fill the house. Imagine having a choice on type its hard enough to choose. Thank you Amanda for your kind words on my little blog. Merry Christmas!

    Linda, your blog is lovely!
Katrina, that’s the part I hate the most. I hate seeing dead trees just tossed out on the road. It’s horrible.

oh the tree choices, that was the best thing about spending Christmas time in Germany.
My family always get a real tree and living in sunny Brisbane, we wait till round the 22nd/23rd so it is nice and fresh still.
This year in my little house, I have a small pink tinsel tree on my computer desk…

My family has only ever had a plastic Christmas tree. In fact, we used the same tree every Christmas since before I was born but had to replace it last year because it was so naked!

I would love to have a real Christmas tree but they’re not easy to get where I am. I’m quite attached to the plastic one though, the same tree each year, there’s something special about that. :)

I always have a real tree. Once a year, it is worth all the trouble.

Welcome to Canada! We just came back from Ikea with our real tree. Love the scent and love the price ($20)!

Amanda, your photos are lovely. I’m happy to have found your blog.
