Do You Photobooth?

What is it about a photobooth that is so appealing? Is it the beautiful, old school film, the skin friendly flash, the instant picture in your hands (well 3 minute instant) or the fact that they come in a perfect little rectangular strip?

I think it’s the goofiness and silliness that can be had that makes them so appealing. It’s a secret, private little booth for you and your loved ones to be as foolish as you want. It’s the intrigue, the mysteriousness, that Amelie-esque wonder.

I love watching people have their picture taken in a booth. It’s feet shuffling, legs all entwined and giggle after giggle. Our strips generally end up with smiles and kisses, Sean pulling faces behind me while I end up looking like some ghostly figure who is far too close to the camera.

Back in Sydney we were lucky enough to have a Black and White photobooth at our local shopping centre. Here in Vancouver, I have discovered one downtown, however it’s colour but oh so much cheaper than the Sydney one. Score!

Do you photo booth? If not, you should try it out. They are lots of fun!

Watch Amelie (my favourite film) for serious photo booth action.

Photobooth.net – Scroll down to the Australia, Australia post and you will see my old photobooth where these BW strips were actually taken. =D

Oh me too. I have no idea where old ones are either.

I used to photobooth a LOT when I was younger. Now, it just seems so retro and cool! Ok, ok, I’m old…

I adore photobooths! Everytime I see one I have to take photos in it. They are hard to find though, I remember them being more common when I was younger. I know there is one in the Train station in Vancouver… I think that’s the only one I know of.

    Ali, thanks so much. :)
I have been here many times before but living of course is different. That’s a hard question actually hehe
It is and it isn’t. I’m enjoying this time of year that’s for sure.

hahahaha, love it. eric and i did one to put in our wedding invitations and he had never been in one prior to that! he was confused by all the ‘sounds’ and he kept changing his pose after every ‘noise’ he heard so the result was me laughing at what a HAM my now husband is…

I love photobooths! Crazy about them. but they have to be a little old school. I can’t stand the ones that add colours and wording! Ergh.

There is one at Rhodes near Ikea that I make Hubby get a photo with me everytime we go there. It’s the best. Last time the ink was running out, and it made it even more old school. As soon as we sit in there, I start laughing, and laughing… I think it’s hysterical. My heart is so satisfied.

Which one in Sydney did you used to visit? I do love a little black and white.

Oh and I’ve never seen your beautiful man before. You guys are a gorgeous couple. xx

  11. I have been looking for a photobooth in Sydney! I am going to have to take a trip to Glebe ASAP!

Chantelle and Megan, it’s in the Broadway Shopping Centre. Go up to the Hoyts Cinema. There is a Time Zone next to the movies and just between the Time Zone and the entrance to the car park there is a a black and white photo booth.

There is a colour photobooth on a lower floor near Gloria Jeans but the BW is the upstairs one. It’s the only BW one I know of in Sydney. It’s about $8 a strip and takes a while to work but it does.
