Digicam Decisions
by Amanda on October 2, 2009
A little colour for your Friday.

I have a confession that no camerajunkie should admit…I have been looking at purchasing a new digital camera. It’s terrible, this disease. Always hunting for something different, something to inspire and recharge the picture taking mojo.
At present, I am in love with the idea of the Olympus E-P1. It has been built with the love of old school photography in mind. This gorgeous new thing looks like the old Olympus Pen cameras and has some awesome features that most digicams do not offer. I would LOVE to get my hands on this camera.
Check out some shots on flickr.
However, as we move into October, which I have dubbed U2 month, I have been pondering getting something good and strong to work that concert stage. I have been looking at the Canon G11 which does very well in low light and has the old flippy out screen.
Oh, decisions, decisions…
Does anyone have any compact cam recommendations or use the Canon G9/10? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I must admit I’m kind of looking for a new compact digital as well, and these that you mention here are on my list too. I have heard very good things about both Olympus Pen and Canon G9/10. I have met several professional photographers that love their Canon G9/10 as their second camera.
PS: Congrats on the Frankie book :-)
Sab also suggested the RICOH GRD3 which they say is fantastic in low light.
Astrid, I know the Canon would do much better in low light, but the Olympus just sounds like so much fun and it’s what I’ve wanted in a digital camera for a while.
The G11 isn’t out yet, later this month apparently.
Hi Amanda! That Olympus camera looks great….a balance between old and new. Thanks for introducing me to it. Hope you’re doing well and that your move is going smoothly. xo
Thanks gorgeous lady.
I need to email you soon!
I’d much prefer it to the Canon but I could down that kind of money on a Hasselblad, so I don’t know what to do!
Oh that little Olympus looks so nice! I’m in the market for a smaller camera too. I’ve been considering the Ricoh 200G. But, you may have changed my mind. Decisions like these are so hard…
I have to tell you, my comment has nothing to do with digital cameras. These photos here are phenomenal. Like always. That first one especially. Love!
