Oh that makes me feel much better.
I will have to make sure we find a place near the cafes. We have gotten very used to our Inner West weekend breakfasts hehe

coffee is huge in vancouver. it's a city full of coffee nerds who like to do cuppings and roastings and then talk about it for hours! on the plus side, most of them are foodies and beer drinkers too, so there is something for everyone.
starbucks is horrible. their coffee is horrible (i may not be a nerd, but i am a snob : ) and with so many very good independant coffee shops around there are far better options.

ferry rides are indeed awesome.

and you are going to have a wonderful time living here.

How exciting, I lived in Vancouver for a year and a half and I love it there. I think there is a cafe culture in some parts of the city - I remember these crazy Canadians sitting outside in shorts in January!

i second susanna's suggestion to take the ferry across at dusk - can you believe i actually miss taking that ferry?! its such a long trip, but playing crib, dining on a burger and fries, and perusing the crappy souvenir shop are things i miss. along with the amazing sunset, the incredible expanse of ocean and snow capped mountains, and watching out for diving sea life.

Susanna, I am a little worried about the friend part but I know I am going to enjoy living there.
I have been to Vancouver on 4 separate trips now but never been over to Victoria and that's no. 1 on my list!

I think Maddie links to my blog, I will have to check hers out again. :)
Thanks for commenting.

You're movin' to Canada??! Whoo hoo! I'm a Canuck living in the U.S. and although I do like my life down here, I often miss Home. Vancouver certainly will have lots of cafes and coffee shops. And it's such a friendly province with lots of social activities. You are going to make new friends, you are going to have FUN living there. I recommend taking the ferry from Vancouver to Vancouver Island in the late afternoon, around dusk. It's heavenly. I still dream about that trip. Sigh...

Sundari, yes these are all digital. Most of the shots on here are usually film, but I used my 40D for these.

Lauren, thank you!
